We're good to our employees, too. For one thing, we like our employees — and we want to keep them happy. For another, we think it makes great business sense to have a workplace that employees relish. For us, that's less time spent hiring and training, and more time spent creating happy customers.
So we pay a living wage — to our bicycle messengers and beyond. Nobody relies solely on tips. We listen to and honor our employees' ideas for innovation. We firmly promote from within (all of our supervisors started as delivery staff or customer service reps). We do whatever we can not to turn away hard-working employees during non-peak seasons.
The numbers speak for themselves. In an industry rife with turnover, ours is astoundingly low.
